Like my dress? So, I didn’t win but the whole experience was so much fun! Anything for charity! Congrats to Max, lead singer of The Black Landlord who won. He did AWESOME! His routine was so funny and talented!

Me and LeAnne. Thanks for the support!

I will try to get the video up… ASAP.

Friday Tidbits

- If you loved Philly’s own Tina Fey and Steve Carell in “Date Night” then, I have good news! They are teaming up AGAIN for another comedy called “Mail Order Groom.”

- I thought Tiger Woods was taking another break. I guess not! According to his official website, his next tournament will be the Quail Hallow Championship April 29 to May 2. His site also says he will play in the US Open tournament in June.

- Lil Wayne is keeping busy in jail. He just posted another blog. He talks about his sports and his excitement about Donovan McNabb being traded to the Redskins. He wrote:

“McNabb to the Skins…wow! I think this will be a great thing for all involved, except the Eagles.”

What should I wear for my performance on “Dancing with the Philly Stars”?

So I’ve started the process of “shopping” around for my Samba dress and I’m so excited. My dance partner says I should go with fringes …something that shakes when I dance. So here’s what I’ve been looking at so far on rhythmicrentals.com

What do you think?

I have my Samba practice tonight (class #2) and right afterwards, I have my first Bikini Bootcamp class at Society Hill Dance Academy! Keep you posted on how that goes!

I’m excited for Bikini Bootcamp! Started the Samba

Earlier this week, I wrote about how I’m participating in “Dancing with the Philly Stars” event to help Sickle Cell Anemia. The show isn’t until April (I will keep you posted) but in the meantime, I’m practicing the Samba with my dance partner Nick at the Society Hill Dance Academy. So far, I think I’m getting the hang of it. I’ve learned the “box” move and the “wisk”. Anyways, while I was on their website, I noticed their “Bikini Bootcamp” program that’s 6 weeks, 3 times a week. It looks like a lot of fun so I’m trying it out! I’ve been kind of lazy with my work outs and I think it will be different and keep me interested instead of doing the same boring things at the gym. My girlfriend signed up too. The classes are structured like this:

Mon 7:00 pm- Ab and Upper Body Work Out
Tue 8:30 pm – Hip Hop Cardio Class
Thur 7:00 pm- Ballet Barre Conditioning

Apparently, we don’t need to be trained in hip hop or ballet. It’s just the theme they use for the class to work out different parts of the body! Totally stoked!

It starts this Monday (March 1st) so if you didn’t join already, maybe they will have another series of classes after this one ends. Need to get in spring/summer bikini mode ASAP!

I’m “Dancing with the Philadelphia Stars”

Several months ago, I was asked to do Philadelphia’s version of “Dancing with the Stars.” First of all, I don’t consider myself a “star” by any means and secondly, I suck at dancing!! I mean, gimme a few drinks and I’ll have some rhythm but a choreographed dance routine? Forget about it. Then, I found it’s a one night event where I showcase a quick dance routine. I would have a couple months to practice beforehand (in private) and it’s all to benefit Sickle Cell Disease. So I agreed to do it and I’m pretty excited to learn something new. I just had my first official meeting to kick off my rehearsals and found out, I’m doing the Samba! How cool is that? I get to learn the Samba, which is Brazilian dance that involves a lot of hip and shoulder movements! I have a professional dance partner who is apparently the best at teaching Samba (at the Society Hill Dance Academy) and it’s all for a great cause. I will keep you posted on the event date and how to purchase tickets. I’ll keep you posted on my dancing progress. In the meantime, I’ll be YouTubing a bunch of “samba” videos like these below. Wish me luck!!

FYI: Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. People with sickle cell disease have red blood cells that contain mostly hemoglobin* S, an abnormal type of hemoglobin. Sometimes these red blood cells become sickle-shaped (crescent shaped) and have difficulty passing through small blood vessels.
